From singing, to composition, to dancing students will get a taste of all forms of music. It is also important for music to support the common core standards of their regular class. As my students are learning music we are incorporating elements of their spelling, reading, science, history and math curriculum.
I am pleased to be introducing instruments to the students here at Hancock. Students in grades K-2 will be learning glockenspiels, grades 3 and 4 will be introduced to recorders, while our 5th and 6th graders will be learning to play Ukulele. These instruments will encourage students fine motor skills, reading skills, and listening skills. This will also introduce students to playing in an ensemble.
As the music program moves forward I look forward to working closely with the community, the teacher, and the students to create a lifelong appreciation for music and all it s aspects.
