I believe that my major goal as Music Teacher is to foster a love of and appreciation for Music. I attempt to do this by offering a varied curriculum which includes much singing and the proper use of the instrument we all possess, music theory, which includes knowledge of the notes and rests, letters, etc., and much preparation for a successful transition in learning to play the piano. I also include information about the lives and music of various composers at all grade levels, listening skills, music and instruments in world cultures, recognition of orchestral, band and folk instruments, as well as the ability to use and play percussion rhythm instruments. The students will be asked to compose songs, and they will be given opportunities for dance and movement experience. Performance skills and concertĀ decorumĀ are also part of this curriculum. We present at least three major concerts per year, including a Spring Musical.
Past and current educational research reinforces the knowledge that learning music does result in higher intelligence and does lessen stress in children and adults. It is my pleasure to share my love of music with our students and guide them on the road towards musical knowledge, appreciation, and enjoyment.
