NewHope (our parent group) is very active at the school. We support and/or organize the Halloween Harvest Celebration, the Thanksgiving Day Dinner, community holiday gift baskets, school calendars, field trips. cultural enrichment opportunities, unplugged week activities, and our graduation celebration. We are an important group at the school and anyone is welcome to join in and participate.
What does it take to me a MEMBER of NewHope?
Simple, all it takes to be a member of New Hope is to want to nurture and continue to develop a sense of community within our school. NEW HOPE sponsors so many of our activities that involve the community, our children, our friends, our families. The committee itself is made of (volunteer) officials and members. Monthly meetings are usually held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (no summers).

LIBRARY NEWS
As most of you know, the Hancock School has been fortunate to have Joan Blair as a volunteer librarian for the past few years. She, with the assistance of Norma Quimby, is not only helping maintain the collection we already have, but is working with teachers to identify titles the library could use to supplement the curriculum. In support of these efforts, NewHOPE is starting a campaign to both fundraise for our library and to keep our community informed of what books the school is hoping to acquire. To this end, we will be hanging a bulletin board above the library desk (near photocopier). A wish list will be posted there, along with a display of recent acquisitions. Kelly Wright, former Hancock resident and owner of Chapters bookstore at 78 North Street in Pittsfield, has agreed to keep the wish list books in stock, all shelved in one place. She has also very generously agreed to apply a 20% discount to the purchase of any wish list books. Of course, we are happy to receive books purchased from the store of your preference. In making an arrangement with Chapters bookstore, we are supporting a local and independent bookseller, while still getting a fantastic deal. We will keep you posted about this exciting initiative.
Thank you!
