Nurse/Health

Joan Lennon, RN

Hi everyone,

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself, I have lived in Lanesboro for 28 years, I have 4 children who have all graduated from Lanesboro Elementary School, and I currently have 2 children attending Mt. Greylock Regional High School, (a sophomore and a senior).

I have been a Registered Nurse for almost 10 years working in acute care at Berkshire Medical Center, where I still work per diem. I also work at McCann Technical School as full-time faculty staff in their Practical Nursing program, and now I have the opportunity to also work as a school nurse. I am very excited for this opportunity and look forward to working with both the staff here at Hancock Central School, the children who attend this school and their families.

I plan on starting screenings for vision, hearing, height and weights soon on all the children, and will notify parents and guardians if there are any irregularities.

I will also have classroom activities planned on handwashing, good nutrition, oral care and exercise.

I would also like to take this time to remind parents/guardians the need for the prompt return of medication authorization forms. I cannot administer any over-the-counter medications, including bacitracin, cough drops, or hydrocortisone to any child if I do not have these forms signed by both the physician and a parent/guardian. These have to be filled out again every new school year; I plan on getting these out to families around January for the next school year to hopefully make it easier for everyone.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at the school Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri from 9-12:30 and Wed from 9-11:30. I can also be reached any other time by email.

You can reach me at school:  Ph. 738-5676  Fax 738-5338 or email me at jlennon@hancockschool.org
